This is an activity where I have my students rotate around the room to measure 5 different objects. I label the objects 1-5. The students must ESTIMATE first, and then they get their meter stick from me. I have them work in groups of 3 because I don't have a lot of meter sticks for them to use.
Once they show me their estimations, they can go back to the objects to measure them. I use large objects like a table, the door, the countertop, the filing cabinet, and the bookcase. Other objects might be the board, a bulletin board, or objects outside the classroom that are large.
