Using Picture Books in Middle School: Henry's Freedom Box

Using Picture Books in Middle School: Henry's Freedom Box
Product Description
I love using picture books in my middle school classroom to teach the ELA skills. "Henry's Freedom Box," is a Caldecott Honor Book and is a great one to teach symbolism and theme to your middle school class. Use this to introduce these two skills, as part of your literature circles, for a guided reading lesson, or as a reinforcement after you have taught the skills. Each worksheet explains the skill in detail, has a completed example in order to gradually release the skill being taught, and has hand drawn artwork to match the book. An answer key is also provided with sample answers. Enjoy!
