Product Description
I used this lesson with my Statistics class. Initially we all work together to determine the mean and median of the data set (3rd column of data - Taxpayer Costs of State Prisons per Inmate”). We discuss why the distribution is normally distributed by comparing the mean and the median. I used this data to teach the concept of z-scores (the exact number of deviations from the mean) and the students were able to recognize the relationship between the z-scores and the actual data.
