Verizon, AT&T, U.S. Cellular and Cricket are all mobile phone companies that offer plans that can be written as linear equations. In this activity, students will use the internet to create their own linear equations for each cell phone company. After writing their equation, they will graph their lines, compare the functions, make a hypothesis and test their hypothesis. Then they can use their findings to discuss the cell phone company that they think is the best. This activity is great for showing students Algebra in the real world. It also covers different areas of Blooms Taxonomy, 21st Century Skills and Common Core.
