PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a great reference sheet for independent reading of Non-Fiction texts of all types. My students use this as a checklist to make sure that they are getting all of the information they need from challenging non-fiction texts.

In practice, it's really best to have them focus on one section at a time.

For example:
"Let's look at Introductions. What do you know about this article from the first paragraph? What do I think this is about by reading just the first sentences of each paragraph?"

Then go on to another section. The THIEVES order helps kids to remember how to break down a tough text.

Oh - sometimes kids misspell "thieves" and get things out of order, but it hasn't been a big thing.
