This PowerPoint takes students (and teachers!) step-by-step through using tape diagrams to solve percent problem--one of the challenging skills in the 6th Grade Math Common Core Standards.
Tape diagrams are a powerful tool for solving percent problems, but are often unfamiliar to students and teachers alike. This PowerPoint guides students through 19 problems showing how to set up a tape diagram, how to use the information from the problem to fill out the tape diagram, and how to then use the tape diagram to solve the problem. Once students have mastered tape diagrams, it becomes a favorite problem-solving strategy. Included are problems such as "What is 75% of 120" and "32 is 80% of what number?" along with several real-world problems.
This PowerPoint is fully editable.
