These two handouts provide scaffolding for students investigating non-fiction resources and websites.
These activities force student to look at features specific to non-fiction texts such as the glossary, headings etc- and use those features to enhance their learning and investigate new concepts.
I also created a similar worksheet for websites. The website sheet is a great way to compare gained knowledge and share different sites that students investigated; and to analyze whether or not it was a credible reliable site. These worksheets can be applied to any subject, for any age- it provides an opportunity students to consider the features in texts and websites and use those features to their advantage. ENJOY!
