This is a Power Point Presentation of Workshops that I have been presenting at State Technology Conferences on Using an Evaluation Rubric to Select Quality Content Specific Apps for Mobile Learning. There are tens of thousands of apps that are labeled “educational” that are available for mobile devices. In much the same manner that educators would evaluate a textbook or other instructional material, similar selection criteria needs to also be applied to apps. This presentation offers suggestions of criteria that should be considered along with an evaluation rubric that can be downloaded and adapted to your specific use. Website references, where teacher reviews are posted of apps that work best in the classroom, are also included in this presentation.
This generation of student learners is often referred to as “Digital Natives”. We cannot rely on our traditional teaching methods. We need to “meet these students where they are.” The digital generation.
