This handy flowchart will help students use the Discriminant to determine the number and type of roots of a quadratic equation.
Hand out the flowchart filled in, or have students complete it as a class activity.
My goal in my classroom with this flowchart was that it would help students streamline their thought process and make stronger connections between that number they got under the radical and the answers they got out for solutions. I hoped that they didn't actually need this flowchart for long - that using it would help them learn and understand the connections quicker than I had observed prior to creating this.
