PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The distributive property is one of the most challenging concepts for students to grasp. This activity helps make the distributive property more concrete as students are required to write expressions for the area of rectangle. Students must write their expressions in 3 forms: Factored Form, Expanded Form, Simplified Form. This would look like this: 4(x + 5) , 4x + 4(5) , 4x + 20
This activity includes 12 stations. In my classroom, I like to tape each picture to the wall. Students circulate around the room in an effort to complete each station.
Pre-requisite skills: Knowledge of how to find area of a rectangle
