I have taken the tenets of the game of Life to create a semester long activity that allows students to learn about the responsibilities of adulthood. Students get jobs, earn salaries, keep track of expenses and savings, make investments, and deal with life’s curve balls. I like to use this for a semester and generally once a week-typically Friday. In addition, students can get bonuses, have deductions from their paychecks, and are able to “shop” at my store (catalog is not included). This project contains many skills including research, mathematical, and reasoning. At the end of the semester, there is even a fun activity to wrap things up; I take the things students have, give them points and then give students “money” to use at an Auction (this is another activity in my TPT store). My students LOVE this and look forward to it each week!
