There are two different keys - one for Animals and one for Utah Trees.
These tree types can be found on the classification key and also in the Utah State Core for 4th grade science. The animals are just general animals that can be found in Utah. How I use this in my own classroom: I show my class a picture of each of the trees we learn about in Science in fourth grade – I have a PowerPoint that you can find here if you’d like to purchase it!! We use those pictures to look at the clues in the keys and then to create the “pathway” to the tree and then we draw a picture of the tree in the boxes it provides!
There is an answer key with each Key as well so you can see better what I am talking about!Enjoy!
These classification keys were taken from a lesson on UEN found at http://www.uen.org/Lessonplan/preview.cgi?LPid=10316 however, I adapted them by adding assignments to go with them – that is why this page is free!! I just wanted to add somethings to it so I could use it to teach classification keys in my own classroom! I hope the UEN page is also beneficial to you!
