Decoding multisyllabic words is an important skill for beginning readers. V-CV words allow new or struggling readers to read longer words that follow a pattern. Prior knowledge of VCCV, VCE, and VC-Cy patterns are needed to decode these words.
There are three versions (20 cards each) of the puzzles below. Each subsequent version has more visual support.
Version 1 has black words on a white background.
Version 2 has black consonants and red vowels on a white background.
Version 3 has back consonants and red vowels along with swoops and the v-cv labels that correlate with Orton-Gillingham teaching.
Part II file differs from part one by including a multitude of words that start with a vowel as well as some more obscure words.
The product is available in pdf and pptx formats.
