Product Description
UPDATED (Feb 2014) - A 17 page movie guide and two writing assignment for the movie "V for Vendetta". Contains engaging questions related to the film and the ideology of Totalitarianism that are centered on fostering critical thinking rather than just rote answers. As well, concludes with a Venn Diagram in which students must compare and contrast the Norse Fire Regime from the film with the Nazi Regime in Germany.

The writing assignments require students to respond to a speech by the character "V" from the film and are based on student analysis and argumentation. Web link provided for text and video versions of the speech. Also included is a graphic chart to organize ideas centered around research related to the issue of the role of government in society and the debate between security and rights as related to government control. Research links the film with modern issues like: Edward Snowden and the NSA, Patriot Act, TSA and Airport Security.

Includes a detailed teacher's key to the movie guide and an explanation for the expectations of the writing assignments. Also includes a marking rubric with a focus on explanations and writing.

A great resource and film when teaching about fascism, totalitarianism, World War Two, Hitler, Stalin, the role of government in society, TSA, NSA and Edward Snowden, etc.
