The Vaccine Project gives students the opportunity to examine the significant contributions to modern medicine made by famous scientists with the development of vaccines.

Students will review the 2 common vaccinations given in childhood, DTap and MMR.
Notes for relevant vocabulary and back ground information are provided.
A fact finding sheet for 8 famous scientists is provided with guided questions for collecting research. An answer key is provided for you.
A booklet is also provided for students to write up their findings. The booklet begins with a pretest to determine prior knowledge. On the final page, students have the opportunity to be a famous scientist and explain what disease they will find a cure for. A rubric for assessment is on the last page of the booklet.

It is important to teach students about vaccines as it is an opportunity to teach the science and deliver unbiased information about the importance of disease prevention.
