Decoding multisyllabic words is an important skill for beginning readers. VC/CVE words allow new or struggling readers to read longer words that follow a pattern. These words have short and long vowels, so they should be introduced after VCCV words.
There are three versions (20 cards each) of the puzzles below. Each subsequent version has more visual support.
Version 1 has black words on a white background.
Version 2 has black consonants and red vowels on a white background.
Version 3 has back consonants and red vowels along with swoops and the VC/CVE labels that correlate with Orton-Gillingham teaching.
Part II file differs from part one by explaining how the base structure of vc/cve words stays the same even though they might look different. This set of words includes words such as "invite" and "trombone".
The product is available in pdf and pptx formats.
