Product Description
I had two Practice Worksheets and two Practice Worksheet answer keys left over without any Options for Options instructions suggesting how to use them effectively, so I thought I'd try to put them to good use.

The author grants the purchaser of this lesson permission to make one classroom set (not to exceed 50 copies) of the four resources listed above.

How much of this elephant do you want to eat? Select from the options below.

Option One: Yellow Belt Proficiency
Number a sheet of notebook paper from 1-26. Write the complete verbal phrase to the right of each number.

Option Two: Orange Belt Proficiency
Follow the directions above and highlight or underline the verbal in each verbal phrase transcribed in the first column.

Option Three: Blue Belt Proficiency
Fold a sheet of notebook paper in half the long way, and then fold the other half into four equal parts. Write the complete verbal phrase in the left-hand column.
In the first narrow column, use the following abbreviations to classify the verbal phrase.
I=infinitive
P=participial
G=gerund

Option Four: Brown Belt Proficiency
Complete the requirements outlined above to earn a Blue Belt.
Use the second narrow column to
1)
indicate the function (S=subject; DO=direct object; PN=predicate nominative; IO=indirect object; APP=appositive; OP=object of a preposition) of gerunds and noun infinitives;
2)
write the noun modified by participial phrases or infinitive phrases used as adjectives;
3)
write the verb, adjective, or adverb modified by any infinitive phrases used as an adverb.

Option Five: Red Belt Proficiency
Complete the requirements outlined above to earn a Brown Belt.
Choose one of the following paths:
Use the third narrow column to indicate whether the verbal phrase has a complement (w/) or does not have a complement (w/o)
Use the fourth narrow column to indicate each sentence pattern.

S-LV-PN Subject-Linking Verb-Predicate Nominative
S-LV-PA Subject-Linking Verb-Predicate Adjective
