These FRACTION printable practice worksheets will be useful for anyone who is working with students to be able to:

•Name and write fractions (proper and improper) and mixed numbers with denominators of 12 or less in symbols represented by concrete and/or pictorial models.

•Represent a given fraction (proper or improper) and mixed numbers, using concrete or pictorial set, area/region, length/measurement models and symbols.

•Identify a fraction represented by a model as the sum of unit fractions.

•Using a model of a fraction greater than one, count the fractional parts to name and write it as an improper fraction and as a mixed number (e.g., 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4 = 11/4, or 21/3 = 7/3 ).

•Compare a model of a fraction, less than or equal to one, to the benchmarks of 0, 1/2, and 1.

•Compare proper fractions using the terms greater than, less than, equal to, or not equal to and the symbols (<, >, =, and ≠). Comparisons are made between fractions with both like and unlike denominators, with concrete or pictorial models.

This packet has 24 pages of skills practice. They are labeled with the letters A through X (or a-x without SOL numbers). Sheets A through L are multiple choice, while sheets M through X are open-response. Sheets M through X have the exact same questions as A through L. This provides practice in both a multiple choice and an open-ended format to provide for differentiation where appropriate.

• Pages 5 –28 (A-X) of this packet DO have the SOLs (Virginia Standards of Learning for Math) listed on them, for Virginia teachers.

• Pages 29 – 52 (a-x) of this packet do NOT have the Virginia State Standards (SOLs) listed on the pages. This is for those teachers who work in states other than Virginia.

While these pages are specifically designed to support the 2016 Virginia Math SOLs they are useful for any students who are working on FRACTIONS.
