Scavenger Hunt Activities are a perfect way for students to practice specific math concepts. Each activity consists of 12 problems that focus on a specific concept. Students select a problem from the stack, solve it on the provided answer sheet, and then find their answer on one of the remaining cards, which gives then a new problem to solve.
This set contains problems using the rules of integers to solve basic problems and then becomes increasingly difficult as they solve multi-step problems using the order of operations.
You can also post the problems around the classroom to get the students up and out of their seats to "hunt" for the next problem! I've included a large set of problems if this is your preference.
My students love these fun, engaging, activities and I use them often! They especially enjoy being able to instantly check their answers as they work through the problems. (If their answer isn't in the pile, they did something wrong!) This encourages them to self-assess and motivates them to go back and find their own mistakes…how great is that??
*Throughout the set, problems become increasingly difficult, so you may choose to provide selected students with their first card ~ a simpler problem ~ to start the activity. This way, they can solve the easier problems first and build confidence before moving onto the more difficult problems. This is a great way to meet their individual needs.
