In this activity, students will learn about the six major regions of Canada (using the six-region model). Students will label the provinces and territories before colour-coding those that make up each region. Students are then challenged with choosing ONE particular place in each of Canada's six regions that they would like to visit before reflecting on their choices by answering questions such as: Why do you want to go there? What will you see there? What is an interesting fact about the place you want to visit?
Multiple extension activity ideas are provided as well (how much would the transportation cost to travel to each place? How many miles would you travel visiting each place? Could you plan an itinerary that would get you to each place in the span of two weeks?).
A great activity that combines student choice with Canadian geography, history and math!
