These Valentine themed counting puzzles will give your students a chance to practice putting sequential and non sequential numbers in order. They will have the opportunity to practice counting forward and backward by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's. There are even some puzzles for counting by 3's and 25's. Counting and skip counting form the foundation for later work with addition, subtraction and multiplication.
To use simply print and cut apart puzzles and store in a standard sized envelope. To use, kids can use the numbers to put the puzzles back in order. If they need to, they can use the picture to help them reassemble the puzzle. When they finish, they read the number sequence to a partner. Most times, I also have them read it backward.
This set is differentiated to meet standards K-2. I use these puzzles with my students in all my primary classes. I have included them all as one set because even if you only teach one of the primary grades, you probably have kids who need to work above or below where their classmates currently are. This makes a great math station that allows all students a chance to practice their counting right where they need to.
These counting puzzles are also available as separate sets for each grade level.
This set includes 33 counting puzzles. Download the preview for a detailed list of which counting sequences are included.
