The Valentine Figurative Language Task Cards are aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Each card has a sentence using figurative language and three answer choices for students to consider.

*Please note that some of the examples are challenging and may need discussion. Also, there are a few phrases that may be interpreted in more than one way, so whole-class discussion may be in order.
Use the Valentine Figurative Language Task Cards as a center station, for an introductory activity to your daily class, for whole-class instruction, for a partner review activity, etc. To ensure the longevity of the cards, glue them to tag board or construction paper and laminate them.
