This fun activity challenges students to combine their logic and reasoning skills with the concept of multiplying multi digit numbers. Problems include multiplying 3 and 4 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers AND multiplying 2 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers. Students must match the correct product to the multiplication expression. As they put the pieces together, they must use their logic to complete the whole heart.

The completed puzzle can be glued down on construction paper as a fun Valentine's bulletin board or work display.

Included in this file are directions for preparing the puzzles, student directions for completing it, the puzzle, and an optional recording sheet with answer key.

This activity makes a great individual or partner activity.

Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
