The following activities, perfect for the week of Valentine's Day, are included!:
>>>Figurative Language description cards (simile, metaphor, hyperbole, alliteration, onomatopoeia, personification and idioms).
>>>Figuratively Speaking 1 (double-sided): Students read a phrase and pick from the figurative language word bank to identify the type. They will explain why they chose their answer and explain what the phrase means. They will either use the phrase in a complete sentence or write their own simile, metaphor, etc.
>>>Figuratively Speaking 2: Students will use their knowledge of figurative language to write their own sentences based on a prompt.
>>>Write Your Heart Out: Students will receive a worksheet with 5 writing prompts, Monday-Friday.
>>>Response paper: optional Valentine-themed response paper
>>>Comic strip (cat version): Two out of four of the comic strip squares are filled. Students can complete the comic.
>>>Comic strip (blank version): Four blank squares for students to create a comic of their choice. Could be an alternative to responding to prompts.
>>>Comic strip add-ons: speech bubbles, thought bubbles, hearts
>>>Emoji cards: Bordered with either the heart eyes, heart envelope, or red heart with a dot beneath emoji. Each has a lined and unlined version. Can be used for writing prompt responses or as Valentine cards
I hope your students enjoy these as much as my own do! :)
