*** Broken Hearts Bundled Set ***
In this bundled set there are two interactive PDF files included for each rhythmic element, one in stick notation and one in stick notation with note heads. Within each PDF are three different hearts to choose from. From there, students pick “level 1” (4 beat patterns), “level 2” (8 beat patters) or “level 3” (16 beat patterns). They then practice both sides of the heart with contrasting rhythms. Then, the class is divided in half, with one group performing the left side of the heart and the other performing the right side of the heart. You could also use this in centers via a laptop or iPad with small groups or individuals.
There are 21 worksheets for each rhythmic element, with different ways to practice partwork:
* Rhythmic transcription, with varying lengths (4, 8 & 16 beats)- great for formative and summative assessments!
* Composition and transcription of a partner’s rhythm, with varying lengths of beats (4, 8, 16 beats). This is a great peer assessment!
* Dictation, with the rhythm provided by the teacher, with varying lengths of beats (4, 8, 16 beats).
* Mix & Match hearts to perform rhythms with other students, with varying lengths of beats (4, 8, 16 beats).
*** All rhythm patterns are extracted from song literature, which is listed at the end of each PDF file.
*** These files are NOT specific to a counting system so they will work with whichever counting system you use with your students.
Rhythms included in these files:
ta ti-ti (quarter and eighth notes)
tika-tika/tiri-tiri (four sixteenth notes)
ti-tika/ti-tiri (eighth note-two sixteenths)
tika-ti/tiri-ti (two sixteenths-one eighth note)
syncopa (one eighth-one quarter-one eighth)
tom-ti/tam-ti (dotted quarter note-one eighth)
ti-tom/ti-tam (eighth note-dotted quarter)
*** Cupid’s Arrow Bundled Set ***
This set of rhythmic games is a fun way to keep your students practicing rhythms all the while enjoying all the fun that Valentine’s Day brings. The games include various ideas for practicing rhythms that will challenge the students in both an individual, small group or whole group settings. In the title games, students will use Nerf Darts to “shoot” arrows and try to win more “hearts” then their opponents.
The rhythms are written in stick notation with and without noteheads. The rhythms are also not labeled to a specific rhythmic duration syllabic counting system. That is, if you use Gordon, Takadimi or Chêvé (traditional system used in the Kodály methodology) your students will be able to successfully read all the cards.
This is the bundled set of all my Cupid's Arrow Games. The focus of the games include the following rhythms:
tika-tika or tiri-tiri (four sixteenth notes)
ti-tika or ti-tiri (eighth-two sixteenth)
