Product Description
Object: To get the most Valentines (smiley faces)
How to play:
1) Each student needs to create 2 expressions that are equal to the number in the heart.
Depending on the grade level, these expressions can be as simple as 1+ 2 or as difficult as -9a2 /
-3a2. (See examples slide 5)
2) Once the students have finished 4 or 8 hearts (depends on how long your classes are), have
them trade hearts with 3 other students.
3) Once traded, the other students need to check to make sure that the expressions in each small
heart are equivalent to the number in the larger heart. If they agree that both are correct, they
can color in one smiley face. (Each smiley face represents 1 Valentine.)
4) The student with the most Valentines wins.
Options:
â€¢ Have students cut out the hearts first. (Make sure to have students put their names on the back
of each.)
â€¢ Color each heart in which they received 3 smiley faces and post them in the classroom
