### Description

Valentine Math activity that can be used all year long! Students will practice addition and subtraction using the part part whole strategy. The hearts are festive for Valentine's Day but can be used beyond February. These fun and easy to use task cards are perfect for math centers and small groups.

The task cards will help students with basic addition and subtraction facts, counting on, fact families, subitizing (instant judgment of number or amount), and speed/automaticity with math facts. Using manipulatives and Part-Part-Whole mats will reinforce students’ understanding of the concepts. The answer key provides an instant self-check for students, and the student recording sheet adds accountability for this math activity.

To get started, print the task cards, gather some blank Part-Part-Whole mats (or print the ones that are included), and prepare a bucket of math manipulatives.

There are five sets of task cards included in this product. This will allow you to scaffold student learning, as well as differentiate the content for the needs of individual students. The fifth set of cards is designed for students to create their own task cards!
