These heart-shaped number bonds will be perfect for practicing composing and decomposing numbers this February! Small manipulatives, such as heart buttons or mini erasers, will provide students with a kinesthetic learning opportunity during your math rotations.
Print one mat and one set of number cards for each student or group of students (I laminate for durability). Have students choose a number card and place it in the large heart (whole), then add manipulatives to the small hearts (parts) to show different ways of composing.
To add fine motor practice to this activity, provide students with tweezers to add their manipulatives.
