My little ones love play-dough trays! Every time I put them out they always start out making creations (usually food related) and then after a week or two get bored.
I created these recipes to build on their interest of using play dough as a dramatic play prop as well as incorporate some counting practice in a fun engaging way. Since doing so, the play dough station is a big hit the whole month and has even sparked more creativity. One child even pulled the pretend mixer out of the kitchen area to make her dough just as she had seen at her own house.
Now the children are busy taking orders, reading recipes, writing numbers, and counting all while getting that good fine motor and sensory experience that our littlest learners need!
