Spread the love with these engaging Valentine’s math tasks focusing mostly on multiplication & place value, requiring the children to solve problems so that they can design and draw their own Valentine’s card and/or a Fairy Tale Love Story based on their own personal information.
This EASY print and go packet contains math problem sheets with 2 digit by 1 digit multiplication and 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication. Thus, these can be used for 4th grade up to 6th grade. I have used these as a fun math centres activity and as homework sheets.
The pages align with the CCSS math standards for 4th grade & 5th CCSS NBT., requiring the children to show their thinking and explain their solutions within their own drawings.
You will need to provide the children with a sheet of construction paper or card to create the actual card, and Fairy Tale drawing, a ruler, pencils, crayons, markers etc.
The kids love to share their unique pictures, reflecting upon their problem solving and how their answers and, in turn pictures, differ from their classmates. A gallery walk is a fun reflection activity. And sharing the Fairy Tale Love Stories is actually hilarious! I love teaching older kiddos!
I hope you find this resource useful. Please take a look at the many other resources that I have in my store and on my blog, all aligned with the CCSS and the IB Primary Years Programme.
Enjoy! And share the love.
