Valentine's Day Vowel Sorting Center Activity for Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade. This Valentine's Day product focuses on medial vowel sounds in CVC words. Use it for small group reading instruction, in centers, or as a take home activity. Students have 35 valentine cards (7 for each medial vowel) with pictures of CVC words to sort into 5 mailboxes marked with the vowels. Eight blackline cut-and-glue activity pages are also included.

This product addresses the following Common Core Standards* for Kindergarten and First Grade Language Arts:
RF.K.1b Recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequences of letters.
RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.
RF.K.3b Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowels.
L.K.1a Print many upper- and lowercase letters.
RF.1.2c Isolate and pronounce initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in spoken single-syllable words.
RF.1.2d Segment spoken single-syllable words into their complete sequence of individual sounds (phonemes).
L.1.1a Print all upper- and lowercase letters.
