These literacy centers are packed with activities all with a Valentine's Day theme aligned with Kindergarten Common Core Standards! Included in the packet:

-"I Can" posters for every center
-Directions on how to implement each center
-Recording sheets for each center

-Conversation Heart Sentences: Students use conversation hearts to create complete sentences. {LK.1f}

-Letter Sounds {Beginning, Middle, End} + digraphs & blends: Students pull a beginning letter/blend/digraph, medial vowel, and ending letter/blend/digraph. Then record whether they created a real or nonsense word {RFK.2d}

-Sweet Sounds {Beginning, Middle, End} + digraphs & blends: Students choose a picture card and find the matching beginning sound/blend/digraph, medial vowel, or ending sound/blend/digraph. {RFK.2d}

-Valentine Rhymes: Students match two rhyming pictures/words and then record on their recording sheet. {RFK.2a & 2c}

-Compound Words: Students match the broken heart pieces to create a compound word. Then they put the two pieces to find the picture that creates the compound word and record on the differentiated recording sheet.

-Contractions: Students match Cupid's arrow (two words) to Cupid (contraction) to make the contraction and then record on the differentiated recording sheets.

-Making Words--Students create words from the words "Valentine's Day"

-Making Words 2: Students create words from the words "Valentine's Day" and count how many points their Scrabble pieces are with the word they created and record on the recording sheet.

-Sweet Adjectives Worksheet: Student describe pieces of chocolate using adjectives.

-Syllables {Clap it}: Students pull a card, clap how many syllables there are in the word, and record on the recording sheet. {RFK.2b}

-Syllables {Push it}: Students pull a card, push a counter/object up for each syllable in the word, and record on the recording sheet. {RFK.2b}

-ABC Order: Students put picture cards in ABC order and then record them on the recording sheet. There are also 2 other worksheets that don't need picture cards.

-Sight Word Spinners: Students spin the spinner to land on a sight word, read it, and record on the recording sheet. There are 37 spinners, for a total of 100 sight words. Each spinner has a certain color that goes in the order of a rainbow that progressively gets harder to differentiate. {RFK.3c}

-Sight Word Spin, Type, & Write: Same as above, except students can also practice typing the word on the provided keyboard template. {RFK.3c}

-Onset & Rime Spinner: Students spin spinner #1 (onset) and then spinner #2 (rime) to create a new word. Then record on the recording sheet to state whether the new word is real or nonsense. {RFK.2c}

-/Sh/ sort: Students decide whether the picture/word has /sh/ at the beginning or the end of the word, sort it, and then record. There are also worksheets where students can color the words that begin or end with /sh/.

-Long & Short Vowel Sorts: All 5 vowels included (both short and long). Students sort the picture cards from short or long vowels. Ex: long a vs short a, long e vs short e, etc and record on the recording sheet. There are also worksheets where students color either short or long vowels.

-Valentine Verb or Noun: Students look at the picture card to decide whether it is a verb or noun and then record on the recording sheet. {LK.1b}

-Pretty Plurals Worksheet: Students look at the pictures on the worksheet to decide whether they add 's' or leave it singular. {LK.1c}

-Editing Sentences: Students rewrite sentences to edit punctuation, capitalization, and spacing. {LK.2}

-Letter Templates: Students can write a letter to a friend or family member.

-Reading Response Sheet
