Level 1. “Valentine’s’ Day” is an emergent reader, simple sight words with picture clues.
Sight Words: it, is, we, can, get, be, my, by
Words with Picture Clues: Valentine’s Day, give, make, flowers, mail, get, illustrated

Level 2 has more sight words and longer sentences.
Sight Words: for, our, will, to, we, and, all, from, you
Words with Picture Clues: February, like, friends, family

Level 3 is the hardest version with words such as:
on, their, some, it’s sure, who, us, also, away, of, course, far, they, are, your, this, there, way,
show, enjoy, great, school, deliver, include, everyone, class, decide, saying, live, receive, feel,
clever, ask

Use for guided reading, and send home for extra practice.
 
Version 1 of each level: High frequency words and full color illustrations help younger learners to use their reading strategies: pictures, phonics and context.
Version 2 of each level: Same text, but black and white illustrations for students to read and color.
Version 3 of each level: Same text but without illustrations. Students show their comprehension skills by creating their own illustrations.
Version 4: Students create their own versions:
Easy Version: We can _____________.
Harder Version: We _______________
________________________________.
Choice of dotted skip count baselines or plain lines for students to complete the sentences.
