This Valentine’s Day themed “Build a Valentine” adapted book is an interactive way to practice identifying colors, numbers, shapes, sizes, and other basic concepts using repetitive text.
Included in this resource is a valentine craft and worksheet with a communication component that includes visual choices.
For the adapted book, students choose the shape of the person they are making the valentine for, the message, the size of the animal on the card, the color of the bow and heart, the number of hearts, etc…, After choosing each part of the valentine, students will fill in a sentence by choosing the correct icon describing the part by color, type, or quantity.
For example: “My valentine has a [yellow] bow.”
