Turn your typical Valentine’s Day box project into a standards based economics unit. In this unit students will learn the economics standards through the decorating of their Valentine’s Day Boxes. I use this unit in my 2nd grade classroom but you can adjust it to a variety of grade levels.
Students are given an “income” of “Cupid Cash”. They must then use that income to make a "budget" and to purchase a variety of “goods and services” to decorate their boxes. The goods and services are also categorized into “wants and needs”. Students will then have to create a budget before purchasing and decide how much of their cash they will “save and spend”.
Your students will LOVE learning these very important Economics Standards through this practical project!
