This collaborative Valentine's Day Presentation in Google Slides™ is a great way to get your students engaged in creative writing. The final slideshow can be turned into a digital book that you can embed on your class blog/website and/or emailed to parents. The slides are set to print on 8.5x11 paper for you to print and bind together if you would rather have a hard copy.
This resource can be used on Chromebooks, laptops, computers and iPads.
Assign each student a slide. They will come up with a creative hashtag for a special person in their life that they would like to see printed on a candy conversation heart. Students will edit the hashtag text on the candy heart that appears on their slide. Next, they will type a paragraph explaining who they would give their candy heart to and what their hashtag represents.
30 student template slides are provided. Delete any extras. You can also duplicate the slides if you need more.
Each slide contains directions in the comments.
A reading passage all about hashtags is provided on one of the slides if you would like to print ahead of time and have students read and respond to the 5 comprehension questions.
Two slides are included for the teacher that contain:

Digital writing is wonderful for a variety of reasons.First, teachers don't have to cart a class set of journals back and forth from school to home. Instead, sign into your Google™ account and read from anywhere, even when you are on the go! Another great reason is that you can comment on students' writing without "marking up" their paper. I like for students to engage in digital writing because they can color code specific words by changing the color of font. Ex. Descriptive words=red, Verbs=green, Vocabulary Words=blue. This is a great visual for the editing process. Students can quickly and easily edit their writing without having to rewrite their entire paper.
This product comes as a link in a PDF file. First, make sure you are signed into your Google™ account. Click on the link and you will be prompted to "Make a Copy". Rename the file to whatever you would like. It will be sent directly to your drive! Disperse to your students via Google Classroom™, Google Drive™ Shared folder, your Learning Platform, etc..
Since this product is intended to be a collaborative presentation, students will need to access the SAME link and not make a copy. However, if you would rather them work on their own, delete the extra slides and distribute however you wish!
