4 Common Core Aligned and engaging Valentine's Day math centers to use in your Composing and Decomposing Unit.
Each math center includes a recording tool so you can see what your students have been working on!
These math centers are designed to use conversation candy hearts as math manipulatives but you can substitute with another math manipulative you have in your classroom.
Candy Heart Number Bonds Center- Compose numbers by rolling two dice, representing the numbers with heart candies and combing the groups to find the total on the number bonds mat.
Broken Hearts Making 10 Center- Find the heart halves that make 10 by using the 10 frame and heart candies.
Candy Heart Shake and Spill Center- Decompose numbers 5 and 10 by shaking and spilling conversation candy hearts on the table and seeing how many are face up and how many are face down.
Spin a Heart Critter Center- Spin a number, count out enough heart candies to represent the number and then break them up into two groups on the divided heart. Before moving on, try to break the heart candies up in a different way.
