Try something different this year and have students make Valentine baskets to carry Valentines or treats home.

This is an easy printable basket that uses basic supplies. Just card stock, a few staples (or brads) to attach the handle and coloring supplies. Print on 8 1/2 by 11 card stock and you are ready to go! Students will color, cut and glue the basket. Attach the handle to the inside of the basket with staples or use brads to make the handle swivel. Use as a basket for holding Valentines, out in a gift for a special person or a special valentine treat. The best part is that there are 3 different baskets to choose from (owl, alien or bee).
The example basket shown on the cover page is holding 24 Valentines of a variety of shapes (the basket could hold more even). If you are intending on using the baskets as valentine card ‘collectors’ I would think that they would hold fewer cards as kids tend to just throw them in. If you don’t mind having kids pack the Valentines back into their baskets once your Valentine exchange is over then this basket will work for you. Cards in the photo are organized.
Notes on Assembly
Cut all the way around on the outside of the basket. The character is outlined by a dotted line to help guide cutting around it.
Happy Valentines Day!
