Do some of your students have difficulties describing, classifying, naming,..etc..? I created a visual to help students describe vocabulary in many ways (category, function/use ,looks, sound, feel, place..). This activity could also easily be used with the EET (Expanding Expression Tool) if you have one. Just use the pictures and swap out the visual aid for the EET. The EET visual is great for expanding descriptions and great for speaking and writing about vocabulary! This activity pack will help target descriptions receptively and expressively!
-The cards in this activity are Valentine’s Day Themed!
Print and laminate enough mailboxes for each student.
Students will pick and collect valentines and use the Describing visual to describe each item on the “envelope”. IF they describe the item correct they can put the valentine on their mailbox. The student with the most valentines at the end of the game wins!
-Game time! Board Game: Secret Admirer! Help the kid mail all his valentines. Students will take turns rolling a dice and moving along the board while drawing a card and describing it for each turn!
Describe it and Guess!
Students will draw a card and use the Describing visual to describe the items and have the other group members or therapist guess which item they are describing! Then students will fill in the blank describing visual as a follow-up activity.
