With this special Valentine's Day activity, students write a love letter to an ideal mate either by describing the mate of their dreams or taking on the role of a personified object writing to its ideal mate. The focus of the writing is on using figurative language and imagery to improve word choice and elaboration.
The letter writing can be extended to include a revision activity using STAR (Substitute, Take out, Add, Rearrange).
