Product Description

Have fun on Valentine's Day while still assessing the ELA standards! This fun, no-prep Valentine's Day digital breakout asks students to solve 3 challenges with a Valentine's Day theme and write a love, or even an anti-love, poem.

This Valentine's Day Digital Breakout includes fun activities for the middle school ELA classroom. These include:

  • matching love idioms with their meaning
  • comprehension and analysis of a history of Valentine's Day article (Kids National Geographic-this is the only external website link)
  • sorting Valentine's Day figurative language examples into the correct category
  • composing a love or anti-love poem

*Note: the last two tasks ask students to write their own figurative language and poetry, which means those sections are not self-grading as the others are. However, you can see the figurative language and poems later by creating a response sheet from the Google Form.*

New To Breakouts?

Digital breakouts are an amazing way to get students instantly engaged in your lesson! In a breakout, students are using the content/information to breakout or gain access to the next level/task in the activity, often through solving puzzles or codes.
