Students play a matching game to match definitions with plurals or possessive nouns with apostrophe s.
Students can play independently finding matches or with a small group or partners. When playing with partners, students turn over a definition card and the person who finds the match the quickest gets to keep both cards. The winner is the person with the most matches at the end of play.
I use these games for students to play while I pull small groups or during independent work time. I have an Expert who goes around the class to check for correct matches. That Expert gets to wear the Expert Lanyard. My students love being an Expert!
I also have brag tags that students can earn if they can independently do all of the matches correctly in a certain amount of time. This can be modified to your classroom needs.
I have students store the game in bags or plastic containers. After a couple of weeks of classroom play, I send the games home to be played at home.
You can also glue the storage folder in an interactive notebook.
I have other Math and ELA Dunk It! Games in my store.
