Celebrate Valentine's Day with reading comprehension passages, language arts centers and creative writing prompts!

This activity includes SIX different ELA activities tailored to common core anchor standards for reading and writing. I use these activities throughout the month of February as literacy centers and morning work. They were designed for upper elementary and middle school students.

  • Includes a holiday-themed fictional and informational reading passage and sixteen reading comprehension questions.
  • The questions are a mix of multiple-choice and open-ended. All of the questions are aligned to common core standards, emphasizing vocabulary, figurative language, inferences, theme, text structure and main idea.

About the Author

Mrs. Perlmutt has been a public school teacher for several years. She earned her B.A. in Journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill and her M.A. in Education from N.C. State University.
