Product Description
Need a figurative language review activity in February? This might work perfectly for you! The carefully-written examples are all Valentine's-themed, and this exercise will help solidify the meaning of each term for your students.

10 Figurative Language Terms Included: alliteration, assonance, consonance, idiom, juxtaposition, metaphor, onomatopoeia, oxymoron, personification, and simile*

*Please note: Definitions of these terms are not included with your purchase.

Examples from the Activity:
- oxymoron: The note from her secret admirer was bitter sweet.
- simile: The roses were bright pink like bubblegum.
- juxtaposition: He carried roses and angry metal blasted from his Beats.

Key words/letters are underlined in the clues to draw student attention and help them figure out which term matches!

Ways to Use this Activity:
1. Have students work alone or with a partner to cut apart the terms and examples, match them up, and glue them together on a new sheet of paper.
2. Cut the terms and examples apart (ahead of time) and put them in baggies at each student's desk. Have each student try to match up the terms/examples without gluing. Use this as a warm-up or formative activity (maybe even a race). You could re-use the bags in each class period.
3. Have students glue the examples from this activity into their notes (where they originally wrote the terms and definitions).
