Are your students able to apply decoding rules to short words, but falter when they reach bigger words?
This candy-themed game, perfect for Valentine's Day, gives kids practice chunking multisyllabic words in a fun way! Each card has a multisyllabic word with slight spaces between syllables or other small word parts to help students build confidence and skills decoding longer words. This pack features specific suffixes!
Students take turns drawing cards. If they read the card correctly, they get to keep it! They have to watch out, though-- they may find a Sour card that makes them give some cards back, or a Sweet card that gives them extra cards from the pile! The surprise of the Sour and Sweet cards add some suspense to the game and the students LOVE playing it in a center!
This version includes 8 cards featuring each suffix: -ful, -er, -ed, -ic, and -iest, as well as "Sour!" and "Sweet!" cards to spice up the game!
