Examples from the worksheet:

1) Jenna had 3 ¼ pounds of flour to make heart cookies. Brynn had 6 ¼ pounds of flour to help make the cookies. They needed 11 ¾ pounds of flour total. How much more flour did they need to make the cookies?

3) Benjamin is making three batches of brownies for his Valentine’s Day party at school. For each batch, he needs ¾ cup of sugar. He only has a measuring cup that holds ¼ cup of sugar. How many ¼ cups of sugar will he need to use to make three batches of brownies?

6) Willie had 5 and 3/5 pounds of candy from Valentine’s Day. Johnny had 3 and 4/5 pounds of candy. How much more did Willie have?

2) A box of Valentine’s Day cards from the store costs $4.50. How many ¼ of a dollar (quarters) does she need to purchase the box of Valentine’s Day cards?
