This two-page activity allows students to practice key math skills while enjoying a Valentine's Day treat. **Each student must have a box of candy hearts to participate in this activity.
Students will be using candy hearts to practice estimation, counting, sorting, writing fractions, and creating a bar graph. They will estimate how many candies are in their box. Then, they will open and count the total (their denominator). They will sort the candies by color, and write a fraction for each color. Next, they will create a bar graph to represent the color make-up of their candies. Finally, they can eat their candies. :)
This is a fun activity that my students do every Valentine's Day. Enjoy!
