How fun are Valentines Day themed math activities?! Your first grade students will have so much fun sharpening their math skills with EIGHT high interest math centers that will keep them engaged and learning. They are simple to prep and promise to bring some sweet learning to your math stations. Each activity also includes a corresponding math worksheet.
The math centers are standards-based and focuses on one of the following skills: solving story problems, reading number words and writing the numeral, non-standard measurement, greater than and less than comparisons, base ten blocks, making ten for three digit addition, solving equations, graphing and data interpretation, and number bonds! You'll get a lot of bang for your buck with this pack!
This pack includes 8 Valentine-themed math centers for the month of February, aligned with the First Grade Common Core Standards. However, it could also be used for advanced kindergarteners or remediation in second grade.
Activity #1: Sweet Number Stories (solving story problems)
Activity #2: Read It! Write it! (reading number words 1-120)
Activity #3: A Sweet Treat Size Up (non-standard measurement with candy hearts candies)
Activity #4: Cookie Comparisons (making greater than and less than comparisons and deciding whether or not it is true or false)
Activity #5: Sweet Sorting (reading greater than and less than comparisons that contain numerals and base ten blocks and deciding whether it is true or false}
Activity #6: Making Tens Treat (applying the strategy to solving addition problems with 3 addends)
Activity #7: Graphing Goodies (graphing and interpreting data with numbers less than or equal to 10)
Activity #8: Sweet on Number Bonds (composing and decomposing number 11-20, plus creating matching addition/subtraction equations)
