A Valentines Day activity for students learning either factoring with a leading coefficient of one, the FOIL method, or both. This activity is also ideal for a review for students who have already taken Algebra I. Students refine their skills dealing with factoring and the FOIL method but also their inductive reasoning skills, as the pieces will only work out in one manner.
This puzzle pack contains trinomials and their corresponding factored forms in a 4 x 4 grid. Students must match up the trinomial with its factored form to complete the puzzle. There are 5 versions of the puzzle included. Each puzzle has a different number of graphics that will increase the difficulty of the puzzle in order to allow for differentiation. Roman numerals are also included in the middle of the pieces so that a teacher can quickly check if the student is correct. You will notice that a few problems are repeated. This challenges students to use their inductive reasoning skills and to think critically.
Your purchase includes a PDF file of the puzzle. Although it isn't necessary for use, it is recommended you print the puzzle on cardstock and have it laminated prior to cutting it out so it can last for years to come.
