In this sweet game, students practice making equal groups to create a multiplication sentence. They roll a die to lay out that many envelopes. The envelopes become their number of groups. They roll again and lay that many Valentines on top of the envelope. This is the number in each group. They then record that they have ___ equal groups of ____ and create a multiplication sentence. They find their product by counting or skip counting the Valentines.
This is a good introduction to multiplication or reinforcement of what multiplication means. We use it at our math workshop game center.
